I don't want to stop drinking. I just want to be able to control it a little more. Any advice?

Only drink beer.


Everyone I know (including family) drinks.


Tired of feeling like hell the next day.


Have a great time while I'm drinking.I don't want to stop drinking. I just want to be able to control it a little more. Any advice?
Best way to learn if you can 'control it a little more' is to actually stop for a bit. Completely. Sounds as if you're skirting around whether you've actually got a problem or not. What happened to self-control? Saying no and meaning it?I don't want to stop drinking. I just want to be able to control it a little more. Any advice?

That is so funny, but not possible. Believe me, Alcohol will ALWAYS control you. A good comparison would be trying to control a bad case of diarrhea by squeezing your but cheeks. It just ain't going to happen!
Limit yourself Its easier if you know how long your gonna be some where. And with beer its so easy to drink a lot because you want to drink it before it gets hot and then you grab another one with out realizing it but before you know it your toast. Try to keep to a beer per 30-45 min depending on where you are. And remeber if you drink less it saves you money.
Get some chamomile flowers, you can buy them in ';Tea';bags. Make a pot of chamomile brew, ie a couple of bags and leave the boiling water on for half an hour to stew. When you've had a couple of beers change over to the chamomile brew.


You'll be amazed. And what a sleep!
So cut back. You don't have to go cold turkey - just gradually cut back your amount so that when you DO drink, you'll feel greater impact from fewer beers - better for both your health and your wallet.


-Make a deal with yourself that for every beer you drink, you'll follow it with an equal amount of water before you have another beer.


-Or try only drinking when you're seated at a meal, or only on weekend nights.
You are right on the edge! You must stop right now because you are on that slippery slope to alcoholism. You must question yourself on why you seems to only have fun when you are drinking and why your family and friends seem to only have fun drinking.

Well, it is going to be hard with people drinking in front of you all the time.....However, you can do it.


Your body is saying, I want it, your mind is saying no.


Sure you have a good time, but you know, really, it is not


worth it, when you wake up.


Try to put a certain amounts of beer bottles, or cans in a place, that you have made.....say, you drink 15 bottles at night, more or less.....kindly heavy, nevertheless, lets start from there.


so, each night, after you have consumed, whatever number...


leave the ones you drank on the coffee table....


Try now, to see how many you drank.......normally, you would not know because you are not counting....feels good.


Now you know.....try to take 1 or 2 away.....start at the beginning....so you know what you have consumed.


Truthfully, I think it might work...maybe not.


At least you are trying.


One other way, is to eat.......yes, even if you are drinking beer....Yes, probably you do not want to......But believe me,


you will not feel so bad in the morning.


Yes, mind over matter...you can do it!!


Try anyway, you have nothing to lose.

I agree with Nine....just say no for a few weeks. Cold turkey - just don't drink.


This will bring down your tolerance level a bit and the next time you start drinking, you'll find that you feel wasted much earlier than before. That in and of itself helps you to not drink as much.


Another thing you can do is to drink a non-alcoholic beverage in between beers. It doesn't have to be a large amount of anything - just something that slows you down a bit. I hate the feeling of having too much liquid in my stomach whilst drinking...it makes me put the brakes on a little. Just don't drink anything too sugary -bad combo.

dont drink to much... i know its hard to have just one but make that one or the second one last a long time...
First, decide how much beer you normally drink, and reduce the amount you buy. If you drink a case, go get an 18 pack next time, if you drink an 18pack, get a 12 pack, etc. Make sure you buy only Bottled beer, that is essential for step two, twist tops preferred.





Next, go buy some Ipicac. Open one of the beers in your 12 or 6 pack and pour in some Ipicac. Twist the lid back on, and then mix up all the beers so you don't know which one it is. If you want, have a friend do this step for you.





Lastly, drink like you normally would. Once you find the Ipicac one, you'll stop drinking for the night. It's like Russian rullet for alcoholic awareness.
