I want to move to New Zealand and become a citizen. Any advice on what the best city to move to would be?

I was thinking Auckland, but I am not much of a city person.

Wellington seemed a bit cold and windy to me and Dunedin is definitely too cold.

Also any info on life in New Zealand is welcome.

Thanx!I want to move to New Zealand and become a citizen. Any advice on what the best city to move to would be?
Hi Jen, I'm from NZ.

How about the outskirts of Auckland and then you can get the best of both worlds. (and not as cold as down south) My brother lives in Laingholm near Titirangi in the Waitakere area which is on the outskirts of Auckland in the hills. There are several other beautiful areas like that on the outskirts, but still a driveable distance. And Auckland and surrounding areas have so many beaches and coast areas!

Other pretty cities in the North island are the Coromandel area, as well as Gisborne, Napier etc

Whangarei is a smaller city up north of Auckland and Devonport is across the bay on the ferry from Auckland.

There are so many!

Yes, Auckland itself is a busy and cosmopolitan city. There is a growing Asian population there right now.

NZ has the indigenous Maori people.

We have been known to be friendly and outdoorsy.

All the best

The IT guy in my office is from New Zealand. He said Queenstown in the South Island is the place to be.

Here's info in immigrating there.

Yes Wellington is known as the windy city, but its a great place, a mini melbourne atmosphere. I lived in Auckland and didn't like it. Wellington is smaller and friendly. Good luck wherever you choose
