It's a little ways away, but I've already started preparing. Any advice from anyone majoring in music or that is a high school choir teacher?I'm planning/hoping to major in music and be a high school choral director. Any advice?
Make sure you are taking some lessons. Also, take theory in HS to help prepare you for college. If you are a voice major get into piano lessons or classes. Most colleges require voice majors to have piano minors. Music is a tough major, despite what people think...I am a hs orchestra teacher, and many of the kids who want to major in music in my area don't realize how much work is required of you and expected of you in college. Most of the kids just want to skate through college and party...they end up changing their major once they look at all the work! Good luck and it's very rewarding if you are really prepared!I'm planning/hoping to major in music and be a high school choral director. Any advice?
I have been a choir teacher, ages 4-grade 12. It is very stressful around the times for the programs. Just be sure you get lots of help for the sets and the preparation of the programs.
It is a very rewarding time. I love doing that!!
